The Born 3 Eggs are the result of extensive research, partially funded by the National Research Council of Canada and the Science Council of British Columbia, aimed at modifying the fat found in egg yolks.
For several years, Born Poultry Farms worked with feed experts, dietitians and veterinarians on the development of an advanced chicken feed formulation. Various feed formulations containing flax seed, wheat, corn, extra vitamin E and soybean meal were tested and fed to 6,000 chickens whose health and egg-laying performance were carefully monitored and documented. Eggs were collected daily and sent to the Food Science Department of the University of British Columbia for extensive fatty acid profile analysis.
The research resulted in a completely vegetarian chicken feed that removes all beef tallow (fat) and meat by-products. This advanced diet contains a unique combination of ingredients including flax seed, wheat, corn and soybean meal. When fed to laying hens, the chickens remain healthy and the special diet modifies the fat in their egg yolks, producing eggs with a unique difference.
